		<description>Just a quick note, if you think about educational legislation in the last ten years, I think you&#039;ll find a lot of problems there.  NCLB.  Ugh.

But, one of the reasons I abandoned the teacher education program at Eastern (despite its reputation as being excellent) was that it only paid lip service to the real challenges, experiences, and cultural diversity that we should encounter.  I feel like education should be as subversive as literature, and that those involved in education should also be a part of legislative lobbying groups.  But then, most of the teaching students I was surrounded by weren&#039;t empassioned zealots - they were apathetic dullards.  I couldn&#039;t consider those people my peers.  But I also realize that my decision leaves a gap...</description>
